SEPTEMBER 2025 — Autumn brings change, and at Hewson Landscape, we’re embracing it with a fresh, new look. Our updated branding includes a contemporary logo that communicates what we do and is instantly recognizable on everything from our trucks and equipment, to our website, business cards, and even our headquarters. It’s a strong reflection of the quality and professionalism we bring to every project.

In this issue, you’ll find an organic weed control recipe, fall planning tips, and a bee garden relocation project. Each highlighting how we bring innovation and sustainability to commercial landscaping.

Thanks to our team and clients for growing with us through every season of change.

Organic Weed Control Recipe

Looking for a pet- and kid-safe alternative to chemical herbicides? This simple, organic recipe works well around pools, sidewalks, and hardscaping.

Mix together:

  • 1 gallon of 30% white vinegar (available at most home improvement stores)
  • 1 tablespoon of dish soap
  • 1 cup of salt
  • ½ bottle of lemon juice (for added effect)

Pour into a clean spray bottle and apply directly to weeds. You’ll see them crinkle and disappear— naturally and safely.

Early Fall Planning Tips

Autumn is the perfect time to prepare your property for cooler months and set the stage for healthy growth next year:

Fall Planting — Transplant, reseed, and reestablish turf or trees now for stronger root systems and higher success rates.

Tree Health — Prune out dead or compromised branches to improve air flow and reduce the risk of storm damage.

Fire Safety — With late-season droughts, take care when using barbecues, lawn equipment, or fire pits. Always refuel on solid ground and keep a fire extinguisher nearby.

Bee Garden Relocation

One of our Bayonne clients needed to relocate two bee gardens we installed last year. The change came after the city requested access behind their office building to build a new sidewalk connection to the pier for the upcoming ferry commute to NYC. To meet this need, Hewson Landscape stepped in to manage the project from start to finish.

A new bed was prepared about ¼ mile down the road. The two established bee gardens were carefully dug up and relocated. The original beds were then restored with topsoil and seed, leaving the area neat and professional.

The entire project was completed in just one day—minimizing disruption while preserving an important ecological feature.

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”
